Here's a little something to think about before the new school year starts. Who's in charge of your little one's backpack? Do you carry it into the car, unload it, put it away, and hand it to your child first thing in the morning? If this sounds like you, it's probably time to make a change and impart a small sense of responsibility to your growing student.
In Kindergarten the "backpack" is the first big responsibility the teacher gives the child...the first step towards being responsible for homework. Let your little one carry the backpack home, put it away, and "remember" it in the morning. If not, your soon to be third grader may be blaming you for forgotten homework. And that's a no-no.
